EURAMED award granted at ERPW 2026!

After a 1-year hiatus, EURAMED proudly bestowed its EURAMED award, recognising outstanding medical radiation protection research by early-career professionals. Out of many applications this year, EURAMED’s Scientific Committee met the challenge to select a winner and two runners up.

These three were recognised at the ERPW award ceremony on Thursday, October 8.

The 2026 winner is Dr. Paul Tansey of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin, for his abstract “Optimising CT Head Imaging in Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Biomarker Guided Approach to Radiation Protection!” The winner will be supported for registration, travel and accommodation to ERPW 2026.

The first runner up is Dr. Karen Brage of UCL University College in Odense, Denmark, for her research using a national Danish research programme in medical radiation protection to describe nurses’ radiation concerns regarding occupational exposure and long-term effects.

Finally, Ms. Lena Janz of University Hospital Erlangen in Germany was awarded as the second runner up for her abstract “Low-dose X-ray exposure alters fibroblast and monocytic cell responses according to radiation dose and biological factors including age, sex, and immune status.”
