The Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), a EURAMED member, hosted the 8th European Radiation Protection Week (ERPW 2024) at the Aurelia Auditorium Congress Centre in Rome from November 11-15. The conference again featured a variety of workshops and meetings to discuss many facets of radiation protection, including issues related to the medical field.

We’re happy to report a large number of abstracts in medical radiation protection were received! We were excited to partake in all the talks and posters in this topic.
EURAMED would like to once again recognise relevant research in medical radiation protection or the use of ionising radiation. EURAMED invites you to apply for the EURAMED award by submitting an extended abstract for consideration by its Scientific Committee, with the Executive Board awarding the top application.
The applicant shall not be a current member of the EURAMED Scientific Committee. The award is intended for students and early-career researchers (up to 6 years after attaining your highest degree). You may choose to submit an application under the topic of patient exposure regarding medical applications or if the research relates to medical uses of ionising radiation. EURAMED will grant one award, consisting of a certificate, free registration to ERPW 2025, and corresponding travel costs up to a maximum of €500. The award winner will be chosen from those authors who submit an informal application consisting of a 2–3 page extended abstract, featuring more content than the abstract submitted to ERPW2024, and a 1-page CV of the lead author. Two runners-up will also be recognised and granted a certificate of achievement during the conference awards session. As the conference abstract submission deadline was May 20, applications must be submitted by the deadline of 23:59 on Sunday, July 28. Please send extended abstracts and CVs to Nathan Peld of the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research, the administrator of EURAMED. The winner and runners-up will be notified by the end of September. Previous winners of the EURAMED award are:
