The consortium MEENAS has organised a webinar on the radiological situation in Ukraine. The webinar will take place at 13:00 CEST on Friday, April 8 and requires registration to participate.
Dr. Olena Pareniuk, PhD in radiobiology and senior researcher of the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, will present a short outline of the current situation in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone (including the situation inside the New Safe Confinement and Spent Nuclear Fuel Storages), Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant and Nuclear Facility “Neutron Source” in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Olena worked both in the Chornobyl and Fukushima exclusion zones, studying the microflora of corium and radionuclide contaminated soil.
