At the 2023 European Radiation Protection Week at full member University College Dublin, EURAMED had the privilege to present its 3rd EURAMED award, recognising outstanding research in medical radiation protection. Among the many worthy abstracts in this field evaluated by the ERPW and EURAMED Scientific Committees, the paper “Overall risk of cancer incidence attributable to adult CT examinations: Impact of a 7-year dose optimization program” of Dr. Federica Zanca (Réseau Radiologique Romand SA or 3R Group, Geneva, Switzerland) was selected as the winner of the EURAMED award.
The award and certificate were a part of the ERPW award ceremony on October 11. In addition, Dr. Zanca presented her research to the audience.
The two runners-up were Dr. Maite Romero-Expósito (Skandion Clinic, Sweden) for “Total out-of-field dose distribution in Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients receiving proton therapy” and Assoc. Prof. Ana Belchior (Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon) for “Assessment of biological effects upon Ƴ-irradiation of cells treated with G4-DNA binders as radiosensitizers for chemo-radiotherapy.”
EURAMED congratulates all winners and looks forward to ERPW 2024!
